SRS, Pre-SRS, SRS-Qualifier???

Let us look at the different event types and what their purpose and differences are

SRS Edition

An SRS Edition is a full race format event organised by the SRS, in cooperation with a local organiser.

The race will have the SRS staff members in attendance. Many aspects of the competition will be under direct control of the SRS organisation such as Scoring, Trackers, Commentary etc.

All SRS Editions will have the latest generation trackers to ensure a consistent level of safety and quality scoring.

Pre-SRS

A Pre-SRS is designed for when an organiser expresses a wish to host an SRS event. We will send an observer to the event to access the venue for suitablity to meet the objectives of the SRS for the future.

A pre-SRS does not have SRS staff in attendance and will not be using our systems for safety and scoring. But you will be assured of a minimum standard as some form of Tracking will be mandatory, as will the use of Airtribune. The observer will submit a written report after the event so we can establish if the location is suitable.

Local pilots should attend a pre-SRS event as it will give them a better chance of being accepted into an SRS Edition at the same venue in a future year. Pilots that attend on a Sports wing will achieve a higher SRS Score at the event than a normal Open event.

SRS Qualifier

An SRS Qualifier event is just a normal CAT2 event. The SRS not not involved in any way and the organisation is free to run the event how they wish.

The only purpose of a Qualifier event is to give SRS Pilots a better SRS Score so they can access an SRS Edition. However, qualifier events are not issued randomly. They are awarded to events that are likely to delivery an event standard in-keeping with the SRS philosophy.
